I thought Gotham City was based on New York, not Chicago.

which leads to the question does he have more of a claim to say that because he lives where it was shot, or would we have more of a claim if he lived in the city the story was based on?

No, the question is whether they filmed it in chicago because it looks like a piece of shit like Gotham, or they filmed it in chicago because it looks rad like Gotham?

so i guess by conzo's logic we can start referring to los angeles also as chicago, washington, miami, las vegas, london, the 1840's wild west and scranton, pa... among others.

I heard from a guy who did some work on the Chicago filming for Batman Begins that it was filmed in Chicago in part because the city was really pushing hard to get filmmakers to work there and pump money into the local economy. I read the same thing in a newspaper article around the same time. Seems like the idea hasn't really taken off, though.

economic incentives + sufficient landscape + public services support = Dark Knight filmed in Chicago

I didn't stay for after the credits... I was on a buzz from the movie, and as much as I love those little tid bits we get after the creds, I think it detracts from that feeling.

This is not true for the recent marvel post-credits scenes with Nick Fury in Iron Man and Tony Stark in Hulk.

damn, really? i just don't see how there's any way that's possible. i'm sure a lot of people will find it cool to hate on this movie just for the sake of hating on it because of the enormous hype surrounding it.

Maybe they preferred George Clooney as batman over Christian Bale.

It's still sitting pretty at 90% freshness rating in Rotten Tomatoes. 52 reviews, 47 positive and only 5 negative. Some people just don't dig comic book movies or action movies and are automatically not going to like it. Most of the stuff I've read called it a masterpiece on par with Godfather 2, Heat, and The Untouchables.

Not sure if I consider Heat a masterpiece though.

Heat may not be a masterpiece (it's close), but it is very accurate to compare the two films, given their length and the climatic "ultimate showdowns" between the protagonist and antagonist.
